    Mostar is one of the most important cities of the Southern Herzigovinian region with the Old Bridge , Stari Most , being the frontier town during the Austro-Hungarian period and the Ottoman period in the 15th & 16th centuries. Mostar has long been known for its Turkish houses and the Mostar Bridge , a technological achievement in bridge construction during those times. The Architecture here is a symbol of tolerance , a shared life between Muslims , Christians and Jews .Mosques , Churches and Synagogues existed side by side for more than four centuries. The old bridge was destroyed in the 1990 conflict and rebuilt by a specially appointed scientific committee of UNESCO in 2004. Walking on the cobbled streets around the Mostar Bridge feels like being transported in a region with strong Turkish influence and the fragrance of Turkish coffee , Kebabs and Baklava fills the air . A two and a half hour Drive from Dubrovnik in Croatia through some beautiful mountains and stunning views , Mostar is definitely a place worth visiting in the Bosnia & Herzigovina region .
